Libraries - get involved!
Here's how libraries can improve the service.
Advertise the Libraree Cards service
Print and display an A4 poster inside your library branches. Each poster is tailored to your library service and contains a QR code that allows patrons to visit Libraree Cards easily and have your library service pre-selected for them.
Provide us with information about your library cards
There isn't currently a publicly-available set of information available that tells us for each library service:
how short a library card number can be;
how long a library card number can be;
the format of the library card number, for example numeric, alphanumeric, etc;
which type of barcode is used on library cards;
whether barcodes include additional digits or characters that aren't printed in their numeric / alphanumeric versions (e.g. prefix or suffix characters).
Because this set of information doesn't exist, we have to try and figure all the above out by asking your patrons to take photos of their library cards.
Library card numbers and photos are never shared with Libraree or any other party. Establishing which barcode type is used happens within the patron's phone and not on the Libraree server.
If you are able to provide any of the above information, it means your patrons don't need to go through any of the photography steps, making their experience even easier.
We realise that librarians aren't experts in barcodes! We're happy to do the leg-work here; we'd just need a photo of a cancelled / voided / expired library card to give us what we need.
Please use this form to submit the information we need. Many thanks in advance for your help!
